Are you feeling a little lost? Not quiet feeling yourself? I present to you You are a Badass

Synopsis

You are a badass is the self-help book for people who desperately want to improve their lives but don’t want to get busted doing it.

In this refreshingly entertaining how-to guide, bestselling author and world-traveling success coach, Jen Sincero, serves up 27 bite-sized chapters full of hilariously inspiring stories, sage advice, easy exercises, and the occasional swear word, helping you to:

  • Identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want
  • Create a life you totally love. And create it NOW
  • Make some damn money already. The kind you’ve never made before
  • By the end of You Are a Badass, you’ll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can’t change, how to change what you don’t love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass.
  • I am the Queen of procrastination lol. Especially when I get home from being gone for 12 hours a day. But, I am also the one person in my family that has dreams. I graduated with a Masters in Healthcare Administration (I am the only college graduate in my family), and I got where I am today because I am determined.
  • I wanted to share my love of reading to others in the book community. Here I am. Because one day, I just decided to do it. And I am going strong. I have dreams, you have dreams, we all have those crazy ideas of what we would like to do, but we don’t have the courage to do it.
  • You are a Badass is the tool to help you get over your doubts and fears and do it already. Be fearless. Do not listen to the negativity that is thrown at you. Just do it. It helps you to understand that overthinking is not good either. When you overthink, you tend to stay in your comfort zone, and can cause anxiety or depression. Do what makes YOU happy.
  • I give this book ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ for how real this book is, and how good I felt after I was done reading it.

  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k by Mark Manson (This post contains profanity)

I was laying in bed one day, and a tweet from one of my favorite performers Aurelio Voltaire posted a picture of himself reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k. As dealing with the same issues as him, I bought the book with no hesitation. And I don’t regret it.

    Synopsis

For decades we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. But those days are over. “F**k positivity,” Mark Manson says. “Let’s be honest; sometimes things are f**cked up and we have to live with it.” For the past few years, Manson – is his wildly popular blog – has been working on correcting our delusional expectations for ourselves and for the world. He now brings his hard-fought wisdom to this groundbreaking book.

Manson makes the argument – backed by both academic research and well-timed poop jokes – that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to better stomach lemons. Human beings are flawed and limited – as he writes, “Not everybody can be extraordinary – there are winners and losers in society, and some of it is not fair or your fault.” Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. This, he says, is the real source of empowerment. Once we embrace our fears, faults, ad uncertainties – once we stop running from and avoiding, and start confronting painful truths – we begin to find the courage and confidence we desperately seek.

“In life, we have a limited amount of f**ks to give. So you must choose your f**ks wisely.” Manson brings a much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor. This manifesto is a refreshing slap in the face for all of us so that we can start to lead more contented, grounded lives.

As a part of the millions of people who suffer from anxiety and depression, I recommend this book. I must warn you, the title of the book is definitely a sample of what is in the book. The synopsis did not lie lol. Throughout the book, I kept questioning why. Why would you do this? Why would you do that? Why would you say this or that? Until I read the last chapter, then it tied it all in.

Life is too short. Be honest with yourself and others. Take responsibility of your actions, do not blame them on others. The way you view the world is the way you view yourself. If you deny yourself the truth of what is outside, you are depriving yourself of what is inside.

I give the book 5 stars for how honest the author was, and how it taught me to open my eyes to not only the world, but to myself.
