Day 18 of #31AuthorsofHalloween – Bram Stoker

Pretty much every time you watch or read anything vampire, you think of the man who started the whole story, Bram Stoker. The one story that starts at the beginning of the end of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration of the story.

Quite honestly? I love the story, but, I just could not get into how the story was written. Letters? I got rather bored, but I stuck through it. Like I said, I love the story itself, but the letters were just hard to get through. I think, because to me, now a lot of action was written in the letters, but more like simple events? It is kind of hard for me explain why I didn’t care for the book. But, like I said, the story itself was beautifully written, but if it was in a book setting, I think it would have been better. It was the same as the post about suicide letters earlier in the month. The story itself was amazing, but letters, I felt was too personal?

Now, the movie on the other hand, I can get behind. Especially with Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, and Gary Oldman.

I think it is just because it was really to the book, and you did not have the regular dramatic dark and mysterious man in a cape. It literally felt like it was the beginning of the end of the original man. Like, it just carried on. I loved how it was done, and it was to the book, which was awesome, because like I said, it was hard to read the letters, instead of just a plain story.

But, in my opinion, he is still up there with the authors, because of this story.
