Who hasn’t read R. L. Stine when they were kids? Even teenagers? I know I did. I tried to introduce the books to my daughter when she was able to start reading, you know something simple, but something that would get her attention. Sadly, she is not into reading, but she is interested in the stories through TV or the theater.
My favorite book out of all the books written by R. L. Stine, is The Ghost Next Door. I don’t know. There is just something about that story. Maybe I am attracted to ghosts? Who knows lol.
I tried reading Night of the Living Dummy. And even Slappy in the movie, Goosebumps, creeped me out. I have a fear of some dolls and dummies in general.
Then you have the Fear Street books, set in high school. I LOVED those. Teenagers killing other teenagers. This was a step up from the kids books, I started reading these before I even became a teenager. Possibly ten years old. I was still young.
If any kid was to start reading chapter books, I think R. L. Stine would be a good way to start, honestly. His books were the first chapter books I started reading when I was a child. I remember reading them in the dark, past my bedtime, with a flash light. My parents realized this and stopped giving me a bedtime lol.
